Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated 8 November 2026

The short version
  • No sign-up and no account.
  • Your documents, signatures and signed copies stay on your phone. We never upload them.
  • The iOS app is ad-free and does not include an advertising SDK. A currently published Android release may show a Google AdMob banner; this is disclosed below.
  • Firebase Analytics records limited feature-use events, and Crashlytics reports release crashes. Neither receives your document contents, names, signatures or field text.
  • To keep the “first 3 documents free” fair after a reinstall, we store a one-way hash of your phone’s app-specific ID with a count of free documents used.
  • We never sell your personal information.

Who we are

SignMe is a document-signing app made by Kiwi Kettle, a trading name of Lokesh Sehgal, a sole proprietor based in India (“Kiwi Kettle”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what the SignMe app for Android and iOS (“the app”) handles and why. It supplements the Kiwi Kettle privacy policy. Questions: james@kiwikettle.com.

Information that stays on your device

These are stored only in the app’s private storage on your device. We never receive them:

  • documents you open, photos you choose and pages you scan (the app keeps its own copy; your original files are not changed);
  • signatures and initials you draw, type or upload;
  • text, dates and marks you place, drafts in progress, and the signed copies you save;
  • your settings and cached upgrade status.

Documents leave your device only when you choose Share, Email, Print, Save to Files, Save as Image or Open with another app; the app you pick then handles them under its own policy. Camera scanning uses Google’s document scanner on your device; scanned images are not sent to us.

Advertising

iOS: the iOS app has no ads and does not include the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

Android: a currently published Google Play build may use Google AdMob to show a banner on the Home and Documents screens. Ads are never shown while signing. Depending on your region and choices, Google may process your Advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, consent choices, and ad views or clicks. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. A future ad-free Android update may remove this SDK; this policy will be simplified once no supported store build uses it.

Analytics and crash reports

Firebase Analytics records limited events such as opening an app screen, importing or signing a document, choosing an export action, viewing or starting a purchase, sending feedback, or sharing the app. Event parameters can include an action category, page or field count, plan type and whether an operation succeeded. Firebase Crashlytics records release crashes and diagnostics so problems can be fixed. These services may process an app-instance identifier, device model, operating-system and app versions, approximate country, timestamps, event data and crash diagnostics. Document names, contents, signatures, email addresses and text entered in a document are never deliberately included.

Free-document counter

The free version lets you import 3 documents. So that reinstalling the app doesn’t reset this, the app signs in to Google Firebase anonymously (no name, email or user-created account) and stores, in Firebase Realtime Database, a SHA-256 hash of an app-specific identifier (Android’s app-specific device identifier or a random iOS token kept in Keychain) together with the number of free documents used and when it last changed. The original identifier is never stored, and the hash is not used to link activity across other apps. Your documents are never part of this record. A network connection is required once after installation or clearing app data; signing and exporting can then work offline.

Feedback

If you use Send feedback, we receive the name and email you enter, the topic you choose, your message, and the app version and phone model. It is delivered by email to james@kiwikettle.com so we can reply and fix problems. We keep it only as long as needed to support you.

Purchases

Unlimited is sold through Google Play on Android and as an auto-renewable subscription through Apple on iOS. The store processes payment; we receive only the product, transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock or restore access. We never see your full card or payment details.

Permissions

SignMe uses internet access for analytics, crash reporting, purchase checks, the free counter and feedback (and, in an Android build that still contains advertising, for ads). It does not need permission to read your contacts or location. Files are opened through the system picker you control. Camera and photo access are used only when you choose to scan, import, or save images. On Android 9 and older, storage permission is requested only if you save page images to your gallery.

Children

SignMe is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13.

Your choices and rights

You can delete documents and signatures in the app and uninstall it to remove its local data (an iOS Keychain token can remain so the free limit cannot be reset by reinstalling). In an Android release that shows ads, you can also change ad consent. You can ask us about any information we hold about you (for example, feedback emails) and request its deletion by emailing james@kiwikettle.com.

Changes

We will update the date above when this policy changes and give in-app notice of material changes where appropriate.
