Privacy Policy

Effective 25 September 2026 · Last updated 25 September 2026

The short version
  • No sign-up, no account, no login.
  • Your scores, player names, match history and settings stay on your phone.
  • The free version shows banner ads through Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before ads are personalised.
  • We use Google Firebase to count how the app is used and to report crashes, so we can fix bugs. This data doesn't include your name or contact details.
  • We never sell your personal information.

Who we are

PickleCall is a pickleball scorekeeping app made by Kiwi Kettle, an independent app developer (“Kiwi Kettle”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the PickleCall app for Android and Wear OS (“the app”) handles and why. If you have a question, email james@kiwikettle.com.

Information that stays on your device

These are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. We never receive them:

  • Scores, match settings, game and match history, and stats
  • Player and team names you type in
  • Your preferences, such as language, theme, voice and sound settings
  • Whether you have bought PickleCall Pro (so the app works offline)

Voice call-outs use your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. PickleCall doesn't use the microphone, camera, contacts or your location.

Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes all of this. If Android's backup is turned on for your device, Google may include the app's settings in your personal device backup under Google's own terms.

Information handled by third-party services

The app includes the following services from Google. They collect some information automatically when you use the app:

ServiceWhat it's forWhat it collects
Google AdMob Banner ads in the free version. Ads never appear on the live scoreboard. Buying Pro removes all ads. Advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and ad interactions (views, taps)
Google User Messaging Platform Asks for and records your ad consent choices where required (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland) Your consent choices and region, stored on your device
Firebase Analytics Understanding which features are used so we can improve the app, for example how many matches are started or which language is chosen App-instance ID, device model, OS version, country (from IP), app version and usage events. Scores and player names are never sent.
Firebase Crashlytics Finding and fixing crashes Crash traces, device model, OS version, app version and an installation ID
Google Play Billing Processing the one-time PickleCall Pro purchase Google handles payment. We receive a purchase token to confirm Pro, and never see your card or payment details.

Google processes this information under its own policies. See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Why we use this information

  • To run the app: keeping your scores, history and settings, and unlocking Pro once you've paid for it
  • To keep the free version free: showing ads, personalised only with consent where the law requires it
  • To improve the app: usage counts and crash reports

If you're in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, the legal bases we rely on are: performing our agreement with you (running the app and Pro), your consent (personalised ads), and our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and useful (analytics and crash reports).

Your choices

  • Ad consent: in the app, go to Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices to review or change your choice at any time.
  • Advertising ID: in Android settings you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation.
  • Usage analytics: turn off Settings → Privacy → Share usage analytics.
  • No ads at all: buy PickleCall Pro.
  • Delete your data: uninstall the app or clear its storage. Because we don't know who you are, we can't link Firebase data to you by name. If you send us your app-instance ID (shown in Settings → About), we'll ask Google to delete it.

Sharing and selling

We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for money. Information goes only to the Google services listed above, which act as our service providers (or, for advertising, as independent controllers), or to authorities where the law requires it.

How long information is kept

  • On-device data: until you delete it or uninstall the app
  • Firebase Analytics: up to 14 months
  • Crashlytics crash reports: up to 90 days
  • AdMob data: kept according to Google's own retention policies

Security

Data sent to Google services is encrypted in transit. Data on your device is protected by Android's app sandbox.

Children

PickleCall is a general-audience sports app and isn't directed at children under 13, or the minimum age in your country. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has provided information through the app, email us and we'll help remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, California law or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Email james@kiwikettle.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

International transfers

Google may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States, using safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, for example a new kind of data being collected, we'll also let you know in the app.
